After coming off an opening loss to Folsom, the Frosh Marauders came back from a 4th quarter deficit to defeat Granite Bay 22-21. The 1st half was a defensive battle and a game of field position and ball control. Both sides converted drives in to Touchdowns, which led to a 7-7 tie at halftime. After Jesuit opened up the scoring in the 2nd half to take the lead, Granite Bay came back to score 14 unanswered points. After the Marauders brought the ensuing kickoff out to midfield, the Marauders scored a touchdown to come within one point at 20-21. The call to go for the 2 point conversion was successful and the Marauders took the lead with 3:24 on the clock. Granite Bay drove the length of the field and had a third down and short inside the Marauders 10 yard line with less then a minute to go. In front of a great cheering section on the road, the Marauders defense came up with a huge stop to force Granite Bay to bring on their kicking unit. With a great push up front, the kick was tipped at the line of scrimmage and the Marauders took over on downs with 18 seconds on the clock. After the Marauders lined up in victory formation and the clock ran out, the Maruders took the game 22-21 on the road. Next up for the Frosh Maruaders, they will take on Marysville High School at 2 pm on Saturday, September 14th at Hughes Stadium. In your non traditional Holy Bowl matchup, the Marauders look to get above .500 on the season.
