Jesuit Varsity Rugby opened their account on the home field with a comprehensive win over Bellarmine College Prep in the Nor Cal Single School competition.
The backline was really in the mood to run and it showed with five of the seven starters crossing the line to score. But it was a team performance with forwards providing the platform to allow the backs the time and space to run.
Fullback Davin Kelly was constantly looking to attack and found gaps across the field. The forwards were led by Seniors Matthew Marsh and Soren Peterson, while Junior David Hause and Senior Hunter Modlin pulled the strings at scrumhalf and flyhalf.
The final score was 69-0 in favor of Jesuit.
“It was great to get out on the rugby field and give over 40 players a chance to run,” said Coach Andrew Acosta. “I also want to credit Bellarmine for contesting for 70 minutes and giving us a well fought game.”
Kelly was named Back of the Match
Peterson was named Forward of the Match
