Jesuit opened its 2019 season at the Oakmont Invitational. The meet began with the Varsity team led by course record setting senior Matt Strangio's 11:54 for 2.5 miles edging Whitney High School 52 to 56. Oakmont, Bella Vista and McClatchy rounded out the 5 top teams. Michael Chambers ran the 2nd fastest Junior time on the course in 12:36, Braden King ran the fastest Sophomore time of 12:41, and Jake Swanson the fastest Freshman time of 12:47. Senior Nick Salonites returned to action after a 3 year break finishing as Jesuit's 5th man in 11:47 as the Marauders practiced pack running with only 11 seconds separating Jesuit's 2nd thru 5th runners. Sophomore Tyler Offerman and Junior Tommy Gee rounded out the to 7.
In the Sophomore race, Jesuit led by Cameron Cleland's 3rd place finish (13:24) finished second to Folsom High School 64 to 73. Bella Vista, Whitney, and Oak Ridge finshed 3rd, 4th, and 5th behind the Marauders. The 3rd boys race of the day was the Freshman team race. In that race, Jesuit, led by Cole Rasmussen's 9th place finish , took 6h place behind Whitney, Folsom, Bella Vista, Rio Americano, and Oak Ridge. Finally in the JV race, Ajani Salcido, dominated the race leading from start to finish, ending up running 12:58, finishing over a minute ahead of the second place runner. Jesuit will compete next Saturday in the Lagoon Valley Classic in Vacaville.
