On December 17, 2022, the Jesuit Varsity Wrestling Team competed in the Marty Manges Invitational at Casa Roble High School.
26 high schools competed in this season's Marty Manges Invitational hosting 184 of the area's most competitive wrestlers.
In their second tournament of the season, the Marauder's Varsity Wrestling Team proved to be a formidable opponent, finishing 13th out of 26 of Northern California's most established wrestling teams.
Jayden Weathersbee Team Co-Captain, attributes the team's early season success and growth to the coaching staff.
"We as a team need to give thanks to our coaches who have put in so much hard work in preparing the entire team" Jayden said it. "Jesuit Wrestling wouldn't be where it is today without their time and commitment to our personal growth and development as a team."
Three of the Varsity Wrestlers took home medals in their respective weight classes. Grant Anderson '24 went 3 & 1 and placed 2nd overall, Jayden Weathersbee '23 went 4 & 1 and placed 3rd overall, while Oliver Uniza '25 went 3 & 2 and placed 5th overall. Congratulations to Grant, Jayden, Oliver and all the wrestlers who competed and represented Jesuit High School.
Grant Anderson Team Co-Captain, believes the team showed heart during the tournament and will be preparing for Jesuit's League Dual at Jesuit.
"Second tournament of the season and the boys showed lots of fight and heart. These tournaments help us know where we stand and what needs to be worked on in the wrestling room," Grant said. "We need to train hard these next two weeks to get us ready for our first home dual on Tuesday, January 10th."
The Jesuit Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV) Wrestling Teams will be competing on January 7, 2023. The Varsity Wrestling Team in the Christian Cotter Invitational at Hiram Johnson High School and the JV Wrestling Team in the Vista Del Lago JV Tournament. Also, mark your calendar and cheer on our wrestlers as the Marauder's host their home League Dual at Jesuit on January 10, 2023, in the Fr. Barry Gymnasium.
