Jesuit Varsity rugby has a mixed day out at Saint Mary's College against a tough De La Salle team. The Jesuit Varsity A side had a rough day out against a very physical and skilled De La Salle team. Jesuit had a rough time getting any offense going in the first half and the half ended with a 5-5 tie with Hunter Donelson getting the lone score.
De La Salle took advantage of a few mistakes to score twice in the second half. Replacement Parker Breen got one score back for Jesuit, but it was too little, too late and De La Salle were worthy winners. Final Score 19-10. Senior Soren Peterson and Junior David Hause has stand out performances.
The Jesuit B side battled for 70 minutes. They ran up the score in the first half 22-5, but De La Salle came back to take the lead 28-22. A late Jesuit try and key conversion by Nick Blake gave Jesuit a slim lead. The team hung on and forced an error to end the game. Final Score 29-28.
"Credit to De La Salle, they came prepared and thoroughly deserved the win. Clearly we have more work to do as we move forward into our league play." - Coach Acosta
