The Jesuit High School wrestling team showcased impressive performances over the past week, with Grant Anderson securing a commendable 3rd place at the Tim Brown Memorial. Notably, Anderson's victory over Scott Beadles of Calaveras High School, who held the 10th state ranking, highlighted his prowess on the mat. Additionally, Logan Nguyen and Oliver Uniza delivered strong showings, finishing in the top 9 and narrowly missing out on medaling by just one round.
In the highly anticipated Jesuit Delta League Duals held on Tuesday the 16th, the team faced off against Cosumnes Oaks and Pleasant Grove. The Jesuit wrestlers demonstrated their dominance against Cosumnes Oaks, securing a convincing 51-17 victory. Standout performances from athletes like Grant Anderson, Jacob Lerma, Campbell McDowell, Logan Nguyen, Dante Pizano, Tristan Pizano, Nathaniel Robinson, Zachary Semon, Oliver Uniza, and Jonathan Valencia contributed significantly to the team's success. However, in a closely contested match against Pleasant Grove, Jesuit faced a tough challenge. Despite an initial 29-0 deficit after the first five matches, the team showcased remarkable resilience, rallying back to 33-36. The spotlight then shifted to the Heavyweight (HWT) matchup between Oliver Uniza and Peyton Reiser. In a thrilling repeat of the 2023 Delta League finals, Uniza engaged in a back-and-forth battle but ultimately fell short, securing a narrow victory for Pleasant Grove at 45-36.
Looking ahead, Jesuit is gearing up for its upcoming competition on Tuesday the 23rd at Sheldon High School, where they will face Elk Grove High School and Sheldon High School. This event marks the culmination of the regular season competitions, providing the team with an opportunity to further showcase their skills and determination on the wrestling mat
