Although the Jesuit High School baseball team doesn’t play games until March, the team has already started preparing for the new season, but now with the added benefit of having a brand new facility to help with their training.

The facility features a new clubhouse, batting cages, and other amenities the team can benefit from. Pitcher Tonko Susac ’21 is thankful and is excited to see the impact the new facility will have on his team.

“This really helps the team because of all the training advantages we have over other schools in the area,” Tonko said. “Every single day we can do something beneficial for every single kid on the team no matter the weather. The technology and coaching knowledge will lead to lots of player development and will elevate us to the next level.”

Of course, even the players deserve some downtime, and in the eyes of outfielder Hudson Fahrenholz ’21, the new lounge provides a new way to relax after long practices.

“What’s most exciting about the new clubhouse is the lounge area,” Hudson said. “It’s great to be able to head down there to get your work in and hang out with your teammates after to watch sports or play video games.”

The clubhouse was made possible through those who sacrificed their time and money for the team. Coach Joe Potulny is in awe of the diligence and kindness of the clubhouse’s benefactors. 

“Bill Hubbard was the conceptionist, planner, and builder, and I am overwhelmed by the generosity by everyone who contributed to the baseball field two years back and now the cages,” Coach Potulny said. “It is the embodiment of our motto, ‘Men for Others.’”

The baseball season can’t start soon enough for the Marauders, and the new clubhouse is sure to make for a strong season with newfound opportunities for the team.
