The Jesuit harriers kicked off their season at the Sierra Invitational held at Sierra College in Rocklin. On a hilly 2 mile course with lots of turns, Jesuit teams won the Freshman and Senior team races and placed second in the sophomore team race. In the Freshman race, Jesuit won with a low team score of 23 points, placing 5 in the top 15, led by Chase Cressman’s 2nd place finish in a time of 10:51.21. Robson Fuentes, Kai Switlick, Brady Blum, and George Srabian rounded out the top 5. Nest up were the sophomores who finished second with 76 points to Whitney. The sophomore team was led by Jonah Reynold’s 4th place finish in 11:20.79. Giancarlo Hash, Tyrell Ross, Frank Valencia, and Mason Strawn made of the top 5 scorers. In the junior race, Jesuit only had 4 runners due to injuries with Benjamin Brott leading Jesuit with an 18th place finish in 12:15.57. Nicholas Lyons, Marcos Lopez, and Noah Ferguson completed the Jesuit junior finishers. The finish race of the day featured the senior boys with Jesuit capturing both individual and team 1st place victories. Senior Braden King distanced himself from the competition individually finishing in a time of 9:49.78, over 50 seconds faster that the next fastest competitor of the day. Team wise Jesuit placed 5 runners in the top 12 with Preston Conner, Ian King, Tyler Offerman, and Diego Levenfled making up the top 5, to easily claim the team victory with a score of 24 points over second place Whitney High School’s 57 points. Jesuit has a bye this coming week and will compete next at the Lagoon Valley Classic in Vacaville on September 4.
