With the Jesuit High School Marauders’ win last Saturday against the Elk Grove High School, expectations are high leading into their next game against the Davis High School Blue Devils this Friday, Oct. 18.

Jesuit now holds a 3-4 record with its recent victory over EGHS, which happens to be the team that handed the Blue Devils their only loss of the season. 

One of the keys to Jesuit’s victory against EGHS was turnovers, and Jesuit kicker Ryan Young ’21 believes that they are once again crucial to success against DHS.

“In order to defeat [DHS], we need to capitalize on our opportunities we gain from turnovers,” Ryan said. “Over the past two games, we have gotten a lot of chances from turnovers, and we have not been able to capitalize on all of those chances.”

Despite still being the underdogs going into this game, lineman Aiden Singh ’21 is confident that his team has the tools to win.

“We’ve worked hard this week,” Aiden said. “We just have to utilize everything we learned in order to succeed.”

Jesuit Scout and Film Coordinator Coach Jonathan Isaac believes his team has improved each week and is ready to face DHS.

“Our team expects a physical, hard-fought game,” Coach Isaac said. “[DHS] always plays up against Jesuit in all sports, and football is no exception. I think we have improved each week and should continue to build on that trend.”

This game will be a true test of Jesuit’s ability as the Blue Devils have yet to score under 35 points in any game this season, even in their loss against EGHS.

As the season comes to a close, this game is very important for Jesuit and their playoff hopes.

The game is at Davis High School on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:15 p.m.
